After a shocking and surprising beginning to this story, I found this to be off to a very slow start working thru the family relationships of the Detective and as the book progressed I was glad I stuck with it. The various details of the crimes committed reveal themselves at a measured pace, only slowly yielding to the persistence of Detective Elinborg. As she proceeds, I found myself caught up in her drive to understand how the initial crime and victim relates to all of the other relationships she discovers. The twist in the initial portrayal of the crime was very surprising, and an excellent hook pulling me into the rest of the story. The Detective's family relationships seem to me to presage further development by the author in future books.
