Reminds me of "Making of a Surgeon" from many years ago. Entertaining, lots of action, putting together the dysfunctional culture of medicine and mobsters, mordant humour, and more. I read this after Peter Brown #2, and enjoyed this enormously, although unlike some of the other reviewers, I enjoyed #2 even more than #1, the cultural critique seemed wider ranging in #2.
